Television has told our kids that you don't have to actually be good at anything to be successful.. you just need to get pregnant at 16 or party hard in Jersey or attempt to find scripted true love on a game show. Gone are the days of hard work, ethics, and discipline and replaced with barely dressed pop stars, womanizing lyrics, and out of control teen behavior. At least for a few weeks we had a break from all the nonsense and all of the reality show stars were replaced with disciplined athletes during the 2012 Olympics and my daughters took notice!
My youngest daughter watched in awe as Gabby Douglas brought home gold and for once instead of hearing how she wanted to be a pop star I heard her say she wanted to be a gymnast! Instead of dancing to her pop songs she was now tumbling to the music! I was so excited about her revolution that I went out on a mission to find toys that support this new way of thinking and came upon Go! Go! Sports Girls!! I can't say enough about what these dolls represent for young girls. They teach our young girls that living an active lifestyle with proper nutrition and exercise is beneficial to living the life you want to live. Which are life lessons that we attempt to instill in our children everyday.
My daughter was so excited when her Maya doll came! Maya is a gymnast and love to tumble just like my daughter. Maya sits in my living room and watches my daughter as she stretches, tumbles, and dance. Even though Maya is just a doll she has taught my daughter great tips that she will take with her through her lifetime. Each doll comes with a special message and Maya's is "Dream Big and Go for 10!" How inspiring!
There are eleven (11) different Go! Go! Sport Girls (soon to be 13) to pick from each representing a sport they excel in! To check out the different girls and their unique personalities click HERE.
